From PRISMA reporting to PROSPERO registration

Day 1

Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA)

  • Understanding PRISMA principles and the role of transparent reporting in systematic reviews
  • Developing review questions, keywords, eligibility criteria, and search strings
  • Documenting database searches, screening decisions, inclusion, and exclusion using a PRISMA flow logic
  • Preparing PRISMA-aligned methodology, checklist items, synthesis, and reporting structure

Day 2

The International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO)

  • Understanding the purpose of PROSPERO and when systematic reviews should be registered
  • Preparing protocol details, review scope, eligibility criteria, outcomes, and review methods
  • Completing key PROSPERO registration fields with clear academic wording
  • Using the registered protocol to guide review conduct, reporting, and publication planning

Learning Outcomes

  • Prepare a clear SLR topic, research question, and review protocol.
  • Run database searches and document inclusion and exclusion decisions.
  • Structure the SLR methodology section for academic writing.
  • Summarize literature themes, gaps, and future research directions.
